Vito Pioni was the victim in Killing Time (Case #16 of Pacific Bay).

Profile

Vito was the editor-in-chief of the Daily Dawn newspaper. He had light brown hair, green eyes, and a light stubble. He wore a pale gray shirt with white stripes and a brown tie. Besides that, he also donned a gray suit with a pen on his right breast pocket and a gold globe pin on his left collar. For accessories, he sported a pair of orange spectacles.

Murder details

Amy and the player found Vito tied to the Grand Central Station clock. After noting from the broken clock that he had died at 11:05 pm, they sent his body to Roxie, who discovered that the killer tied his neck to the clock with a rope at roughly 11:00 pm before tying the rope to the hands of the clock. As the hands of the clock ticked by, the rope slowly strangled Vito to death. Roxie also found traces of pasta oil from lasagna slices on the rope and on Vito's neck, meaning that the killer ate lasagna.

Relationship with suspects

To gain more power with the police, Vito had sold out his close friend, mafioso Eddie Moretti, as well as his associates to the police. Vito conducted a series of interviews with immigration officer Aicha Ben Malek regarding illegal immigrants. After Aicha fell in love with and started dating him, Vito admitted he was not in love with her, even saying that he only appeared to care for immigration to sell papers. Meanwhile, Vito wanted to publish an exposé on Hannah's past as an Inner Chaos member as well as her sexuality, making fashion columnist Heather Valentine beg him to reconsider. As a result, Vito thought of firing Heather. Vito rented out a space to Inner Chaos to use as their headquarters even though he always tried to find reasons to kick them out. Inner Chaos leader Fredo Mancini thought him (and the rest of the media) an enemy of their anarchist organization. Fellow member Johnny Crossman shared the same thought, even attempting to assassinate Vito and getting sentenced to 10 years in prison after getting caught.

Killer and motives

The killer turned out to be Fredo.

After Fredo denied involvement, he admitted he killed Vito to start the revolution he was fighting for. He said that he killed a newspaper's editor-in-chief to attract every journalist, politican and police officer under the same roof: the court. He then threatened to blow the entire court building with a dynamite vest, but was lethally shot by Hannah before he could do so.
