Temple of Doom is a case featured in Criminal Case, appearing as the ninety-sixth case of the game and the fortieth case of Pacific Bay. It takes place in Rhine Canyon, a district based in Pacific Bay.
Plot
All Chief Marquez wanted out of the player was to direct their attention to an archaeologist named Burt Montana out of Rhine Canyon given that she's been getting reports of the archaeologist blowing up dunes, digging trenches, smashing private property, whatever it takes to reach his illicit goals. The order is simple--ask Burt to stop his permit-less endeavors in an instant or face criminal prosecution. Unfortunately, Burt was found in the Aztec ruins tied down and cut open, as if he was offered as a sacrifice to appease the ancient Aztecs. The player shipped the body to Roxie Sparks but the coroner told the team that she's missing the victim's heart.
Amy and the player found the Aztec Temple by way of quicksand in which they found the victim's heart--an object sent to Roxie for anatomic analysis. Roxie confirmed the heart to belong to the victim, but to incriminate the killer required Russell Crane's psychological expertise due to the proximity of the needles placed on the heart. In spite of time constraints, the killer turned out to be Louis Scripps, Burt's assistant.
Louis had no clue as to why Amy and the player would arrest him, but when Amy informed Louis about the evidence the player gathered to incriminate Louis, he bowed to the player's investigative skills since no one believed his theory about aliens, especially Burt. Louis believed he descended from a race of aliens from outer space but Amy felt this was out of line when Louis took a bow. He told Amy and the player that he matched the description of an ancient alien race a few years (has red hair, pale skin, and a love of chilli) before he was arrested for murder. Louis felt lonely because given that he was the only alien on Earth, he had to teach himself Aztec to communicate with the aliens, so to make it happen, Louis assisted Burt in finding the statue, and knowing the statue need a sacrifice to become active, punctured Burt to death, tied him to the ruins, pulled his heart out, and placed needles on Burt's heart so that the Aztec statue would talk. Louis also had to leave a camcorder with his message to the aliens so that he would allow more aliens to come to Earth as a part of his benign plan, but Amy had enough of Louis, so the player shipped him to Judge Dante to face trial.
Judge Dante felt that he had no power over intergalactic matters in which Louis felt honored since he was not of the planet, until Judge Dante spotted Louis's delusional condition on the court files. Although Judge Dante can't judge aliens based on the judicial authority he's entitled to, he was able to indict Louis for the sacrificial murder of Burt Montana, so a 30-year jail sentence was issued to Louis. Louis didn't like Judge Dante's decision, but the court's decision was made final.
In the hours following the indictment, Otto Schmetterling was arrested and found guilty of tampering relics belonging to Pearl Montana.
