Béatrice Sanchez was the victim in Making the Cut (Case #3 of City of Romance).

Profile

Béatrice was an apprentice seamstress at Chior with brown eyes and long brown hair. She had braces and sported red-rimmed spectacles. At the time of her death, she wore a white wedding dress with a metallic floral bust and off-the-shoulder sleeves. She also sported red lipstick.

Murder details

Béatrice's body was found with stab wounds across her chest while trying on a wedding dress at the Chior workshop. Nadia noted that Béatrice's ample figure had split the seams of the size zero dress and confirmed the player's suspicions that she had been stabbed in the chest with a sharp object. She also found traces of whipped coffee on Béatrice's wrists. Since she found no traces of whipped coffee in Béatrice's stomach, Nadia was able to conclude that the killer drank whipped coffee.

Later, Hugo and the player reexamined the crime scene and found a pair of bloody scissors hidden in a basket of thread. Enzo confirmed that the sewing scissors were the murder weapon after he determined that the scissors were consistent with Béatrice's injuries and matched her blood to the blood on the weapon. Enzo also found another blood sample on the scissors. From the DNA in the sample, Enzo was able to conclude that the killer was A-.

Relationship with suspects

Béatrice was one of seamstress Candy Wu's apprentices. She got Candy into trouble with fashion designer Charles Pilsnerfeld after she made a series of unauthorized alterations to his garments, believing that she could improve the designs. When Candy presented the garments to Charles, he accused her of trying to sabotage his show. Furious with Béatrice, Candy sent her a voodoo pincushion. Charles also angered Béatrice when he suggested to her that she underwent cosmetic surgery, prompting her to call him ugly inside and out. Supermodel Noémie Leprince attacked Béatrice when the latter pricked her with a pin during a fitting. Béatrice recorded the attack and posted it online, tarnishing Noémie's career. Béatrice lived in one of gang leader Antoine Macaron's apartments. When he asked her to procure him some Chior bags for his men to sell on, Béatrice refused and claimed that she had recorded his request, blackmailing him into waiving her rent. Béatrice was also dating actor Valentin Faure. However, Valentin was only dating Béatrice to get an invite to the Chior show after-party. When Béatrice discovered that Valentin was already in a long-term relationship, she threatened to expose their relationship to his girlfriend.

Killer and motives

The killer turned out to be Candy.

Candy said that the night of the murder, she had gone back to the workshop to get her phone when she spotted Béatrice trying on and ripping apart the seams of the dress. Exhausted and enraged by her work being ruined, Candy stabbed Béatrice repeatedly. Judge Lebrun sentenced her to 15 years in prison.
