Rags is a 46-year-old crewman aboard the Black Sparrow. He has brown hair on his sides and brown facial hair but is bald at the top. He has green eyes, but his right eye has been replaced with a wooden eye. He wears an unbuttoned dark green coat, a brown scarf, and a brown strap. He also sports chest hair, a scar on his right cheek, a mud stain on the left side of his head, and severely rotten teeth. It is known that Rags drinks rum.
Events of Criminal Case
Rags became a suspect after Jack and the player found his wooden eye in a pile of junk at the crime scene. When Jack explained that they were looking into Blackbeard's murder, Rag was shocked to learn that Blackbeard had been killed, revealing that he had just gone to the toilet. Before Jack could question him further, Rags threw up and left.
Rags was spoken to again about him rifling through Blackbeard's gold. He told the team that he had seen the chest open in Blackbeard's office and took a handful as he did not think that the captain would miss it. When Blackbeard caught him, he sentenced Rags to walk the plank. However, Blackbeard was killed before the punishment could be exacted.
Later, Rags and pirate Mary Read caused a commotion aboard the Black Sparrow as they were fighting over who would be the ship's captain in Blackbeard's stead. Jack reminded the two that the ship was off limits until the murder had been solved.
Rags was found to be innocent after the team incarcerated Lincoln Matuszak for Blackbeard's murder. Later, Orlando and the player discovered that Mary was the Black Sparrow's rightful new captain. They accompanied her to inform Rags of her new command. There, she offered him a bottle of whiskey as a peace offering which he accepted. He then welcomed Mary aboard the Black Sparrow.
