Events of Criminal Case

The Show Must Go On

He was first interrogated on the crime scene after High Commissioner Delacroix and the player found the body of cabaret dancer Sabine Diamant. He explained how Barry, the boa constrictor used to kill Sabine, was one of their star attractions and that he was sure that Sabine gave him a scare when she fell into the snake cage. He also refused to accept the fact there was animal smuggling happening at the Popotin Rouge, explaining how he wasn't a part of it. He also helped the player and Jean-Phillipe after Barry wrapped himself around the latter, before he took the boa constrictor away.

He was interrogated again when he sent the victim a bauble telling her to die. He explained how the Popotin Rouge had a pony act and that Sabine would insist on practicing it over and over. He continue saying that Sabine drove the pony to exhaustion, leading it to collapse. Jean-Phillipe then proposed an alternative theory that Remi was involved in animal smuggling, which he wrote off as mere nonsense.

He was ultimately found innocent when the detectives incarcerated cabaret owner Jacques Lelarge for the murder, however, he was interrogated about the animal smuggling. He continued to protest his innocence, saying he won't hurt an animal, and told the detectives to look around, which led to them finding evidence that implicated Lelarge in the smuggling.

Dressed to Be Killed

He was seen again when a pink panther was let loose from the cabaret, and he then sedated the panther from attacking Hugo and the player. He was later interrogated when a note was found with a bottle of sexual lubricant and ketamine. He explained that he got the lubricant from Voyeur for personal use and to take the temperature of his animals. He also expressed his sadness after learning about Justine's death.

He was again interrogated when a service tray with drug residue was found, with an angry message to him. He explained the drug residue was Justine's, before he explained that the victim kept asking him for ketamine because it was the new drug craze. He told that he strictly refused to give ketamine to her, but Justine attempted to create lies about him dealing ketamine on the streets to blackmail him for the ketamine. Rémi then explained that he tried to calm her down with amyl poppers but she had stormed off instead.

He was found innocent for a second time when the team incarcerated greengrocer Didier Soucy for the murder.

Murder details

Hugo and the player ventured to the Cirque des Étoiles to catch the person behind the animal smuggling ring, but instead they found Rémi with his head bashed in. Nadia was able to confirm that he died due to the multiple blows to his skull and brains, before she deduced from the shape and depth of the wounds that the murder weapon was most likely a juggling club. She also found crushed bits of swirl lollipop in the wounds, confirming that the killer ate swirl lollipops.

Later, Hugo and the player found a bloodstained juggling club in a pile of hay, which Nadia was able to confirm that it was indeed the murder weapon. She then revealed that she had also found some sweat on the club, which she was able to deduce was from the killer. She then told them that the age markers indicated that the killer was at least thirty years old.

Killer and motives

The killer turned out to be Stacy's CEO Howard Stacy.

Admitting to the murder, Howard revealed that Stacy's was close to bankruptcy, leading him to purchase illegal fur from Rémi in order to cut costs. When Rémi decided to stop with the operations due to his "conscience", Howard suspected that Rémi was being dishonest and only wanted more money from the CEO. As Howard could not afford to pay Rémi anymore, the latter threatened that he would report their illegal deal to the police. Fearing to be jailed and lose his legacy, he bashed Rémi in the head with a juggling club until he died. Judge Lebrun sentenced him to 37 years in prison.
