Events of Criminal Case
Peri Foreman was the organizer of the Grimsborough Sci-fi Fantasy Festival where a cosplayer and science fiction fan named Joe Turner was found impaled on the Ripper Jade statue. At the end of the case, it was revealed that Peri was the killer.
Upon her arrest, Peri explained to Alex and the player that she had been the organiser of several festivals, and watched Joe misbehave at every one. So, to ensure the festival ran smoothly, Peri took him to the upper staging and asked him to behave himself. Joe laughed in her face, which incensed Peri and she slapped him in response. A scuffle soon broke out, and Peri claimed Joe planned to throw her over the railing, but soon found himself hurled over instead, which led to his death. Peri was horrified at what she did, and was tempted to turn herself in. However, she did not want her festival to be shut down, so she planned to surrender after the celebration had ended.
At the trial, Judge Hall agreed with Peri that Joe's death was accidental. However, the judge lambasted the festival organizer for lying to the police and allowing the festival to continue regardless, which caused young impressionable children to see the corpse. Therefore, on the grounds of manslaughter, perjury, and criminal negligence, Peri Foreman was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
