Justine Collier was the victim in Dressed to Be Killed (Case #8 of City of Romance).

Profile[]

Justine was a peep show dancer with ginger hair and blue eyes. She sported black eyeshadow and red lipstick. At the time of her death, she wore a long ginger wig, a light green dress with white polka dots, a light headband and orange boots.

Murder details[]

Justine's body was found strangled to death at the Voyeur peep show booths. Nadia confirmed that strangulation was the cause of death, and surmised that the victim had been attacked by surprise due to the victim's lack of noticeable defensive wounds or bruising. Nadia had also found sexual lubricant on Justine's neck. Given that the killer had come in contact with her neck by strangling Justine, Nadia was able to conclude that the killer uses lubricant.

Relationship with suspects[]

Bar owner Céleste Alouest told other sex workers in Pigalle to stop helping Justine, who had spat on her and called her a dirty transvestite. Peep show dancer Amélie Brassière kicked Justine out of her apartment since Justine brought numerous lovers over to Amélie's home and gave them copies of the keys. Justine also threatened to falsely accuse animal handler Rémi Roy of drug dealing if he did not give her ketamine. Owner of the Voyeur peep show Fabrice Dufort was discovered to be having a sexual relationship with Justine, while greengrocer Didier Soucy was infatuated with Justine; he had gone to Voyeur to see her, but she did not notice him.

Killer and motives[]

The killer turned out to be Didier.

Didier admitted that he had convinced Justine to dress as the main character Désirée from the pornographic comic book Zizi dans le Métro by offering her 1,000 euros. However, she refused to put on the headband, which infuriated him, who believed that it was the most important aspect of the costume. Didier then held her down by the neck to get her to stay still while he put on the headband, but he accidentally ended up killing her in the process. Judge Lebrun sentenced him to 20 years in prison with mandatory psychological counseling.

Trivia[]

  • Justine's surname, translated from French to English, means "necklace", a nod to her being strangled to death.
