Events of Criminal Case
John became a suspect after Gloria and the player learned that he had hosted a lecture in the training facility that the victim had most likely attended. Initially thinking that the team were asking for an autograph, John was informed that they were investigating a murder. When asked if he knew the victim, he identified her as one of the decontamination team and was unsure whether or not she had attended his lecture.
John was spoken to again about his argument with the victim at the lecture. He branded the victim as disrespectful and said that she refused to take the simplest of orders. Moreover, he said that she treated him as a has-been.
In the end, it was proven that John was Trishna's killer. Upon admitting to the murder, he said that Trishna had failed to sanitize the storage chamber on his spaceship on what turned out to be his final space flight, thus contaminating all his samples. The higher-ups blamed John for the oversight, however, and kept him grounded. When he saw Trishna in S.A.R.A. the day he was going to give a guest lecture, he could not contain his anger and so he stabbed her in the neck with a letter opener after he delivered his lecture. Judge Powell sentenced him to 15 years in prison.
- John is a reference to James T. Kirk (portrayed by William Shatner) from Star Trek, an American space opera media franchise.
