Hank Buxton was the victim in The Scent of Death (Case #44 of Grimsborough).

Profile

Hank was the CEO of Buxton's Britches Ltd. At the time of his death, Hank had blond hair, blue eyes, wore a formal navy suit with a white shirt and a gold tie underneath it.

Murder details

Jones and the player found Hank in the Buxton Britches rooftop, dead in a plant pot with a flower planted in his mouth. Nathan confirmed that the flower was a corpse flower and that Hank had been strangled to death with pantyhose before he was dragged into the flower pot feet first. Nathan also found traces of salon-brand nail strengthener on the victim's ankles, which meant that the killer had manicured hands.

Relationship with suspects

Hank was married to former model Kerry Ann Buxton, who he was sedating with medication acquired with a special fee, leading to her memory loss and possible psychosis. His mother, Peggy Buxton, pretended to be senile to hand over her fortune to Hank in exchange for him disinheriting Kerry Ann. However, Hank had actually left all his fortune to Kerry Ann instead. Meanwhile, Hank had been blackmailing Lola Vallez to sign a no-fee contract to be the next Love Your Leaks covergirl with erotic photos that she had taken years ago. Lola then asked Friendnet CEO Zack Holden to get rid of the photos for her. He had also gotten gardener Georgi Papacoulis fired once and was trying to get him fired from his new job once again.

Killer and motives

The killer turned out to be Peggy.

Peggy admitted in court that she found out that not only did Hank not disinherit Kerry Ann, but that he was also going to lock her up in a prison for the senile. To get revenge for his plan and the disrespect she had endured over the years, Peggy crept up behind him on the rooftop, smashed him over the head with a flower pot, dragged him to the flower pot with the help of an unwitting Georgi Papacoulis, placed him in the pot, and planted a corpse flower in his mouth. Judge Hall sentenced her to life in jail.

Trivia
