Events of Criminal Case

Basil became a suspect after Gloria and the player learned that he was the victim's tailor. Upon being told about the murder, he revealed that the victim had been a client of his family's shop for decades. He then excused himself to make himself a hot toddy. Basil later rang the precinct to inform them that Jack Cannity was making a scene at his shop.

Basil was spoken to again about the victim's complaint. Upon being reminded of the complaint, he told them that he had refused to follow the victim's requests to make a suit as his instructions were, in his opinion, incompatible. Due to him refusing to make the suit, Sam had torn up Basil's lucky pocket square.

In the end, it was proven that Basil was Sam's killer. Upon admitting to the murder, Basil said that when his father passed down the tailor business to him, profits began plummeting, only compounded by the fact that Sam was badmouthing the business as well as not paying for his suits. To prevent his business from failing any further, Basil shot Sam, eventually shooting him seven times as he unraveled. Judge Powell sentenced him to 20 years in prison.
