Ah, it is the charmant Officer Mercier! I do not see what is suspicious about being a bona fide businessman enjoying a simple pastry?

Events of Criminal Case

Corpse Chic

Antoine became a suspect after Hugo and the player found his ring at Café Le Froufrou. After Hugo told him about the murder, Antoine pretended that he had been unaware. After Hugo called him out, Antoine told the team that he had no business with Elise. However, he told the team that he had gotten to know a lot of living models at Paris Fashion Week.

Antoine was spoken to again about him writing that Elise was dead to him. He revealed that he was angry with Elise because she had refused to become a gogo dancer at one of his nightclubs. After Hugo told Antoine that it was well-known that his gogo girls were expected to provide other unsavory services, he claimed that he did not know what the team was talking about and excused himself to call one of his minions.

Antoine was found to be innocent after the team incarcerated Alexis Cardinot for Elise's murder. Later, Chief Delacroix determined that Carrie's missing brother, Cody James, was associated with the Parisian mob. Chief Delacroix and the player asked Antoine if he knew Cody. However, he claimed to have never heard of Cody and told the team to leave him in peace. However, he let slip that his underlings hung out at Place de la Concorde, prompting the team to search there for a lead on Cody.

Making the Cut

Antoine became a suspect again after Hugo and the player found his cigar cutter in Béatrice's apartment. He explained that he owned the apartment that Béatrice lived in. Hugo then told him about the murder, surprising Antoine. However, he said that there were plenty of people in Paris to replace her tenancy.

Antoine was spoken to again about him breaking into Béatrice's apartment. He revealed that he had tried to convince Béatrice to procure some Chior bags for his men to sell on in exchange for waived rent for the month. However, she turned him down and claimed that she had recorded their call, demanding that he waived her rent permanently or she would hand the recording to the police. Subsequently, Béatrice changed the locks in her apartment. After learning about her murder, Antoine broke into the apartment to recover the recording. However, he learned that Béatrice had been bluffing.

Antoine was found to be innocent again after the team incarcerated Candy Wu for Béatrice's murder.

Juggling With Death

Antoine was interrogated after CEO Howard Stacy revealed that he owned the Cirque des Étoiles, where suspected animal smuggling was assumed to be taking place. Antoine then revealed that the circus was one of his bona fide acquisitions, and that he enjoyed spending time backstage with the circus animals, although he denied knowing about the smuggling racket. He assured that all the animals in the circus were legal, and that he had hired the best animal handler, Rémi Roy, who had been found murdered. He then showed surprise after learning of Rémi's murder.

Antoine was interrogated again after they found Rémi's complaint to an animal protection society against the circus. Antoine then admitted that Rémi constantly asked for special foods, medicines and checkups on the animals, which cost Antoine an arm and leg. When the mobster refused to sign off on the victim's requests, Rémi invented some false allegations against the mobster and went to the animal protection society. Although accused of killing Rémi, Antoine assured them that he had sorted the problem out with the animal society directly and legally.

He was proven innocent for the third time as Howard was found guilty, however, a deflated ball was confirmed by Enzo to have marks of cheetah teeth, hinting the presence of animals in the circus. After interrogating Antoine, who denied the accusations as they didn't have proof, the team decided to go to the big top, thus finding a walkie-talkie recording Antoine urging his goons to take baby cheetahs away. The team confronted Antoine again with the undisputed proof, arresting him, saving the animals, and putting an end to the smuggling ring.

Murder details

After Judge Lebrun revealed that Antoine had been released on a technicality, Hugo and the player opted to speak to him about his release. However, Antoine was found dead in the Lilac Suite of the Royal Culotte Hotel, stripped down, tied to his bed, "DIE PIG" marked on his chest and apparently asphyxiated. A troubled Nadia revealed that the bloodshot eyes and high levels of carbon dioxide in his bloodstream suggested that Antoine was suffocated with a plastic bag. After Nadia revealed that Antoine was tied up after he died, Nadia then noted that the message on his chest was written in a quality oil paint. This meant the killer used oil paints.

Later the detectives found a plastic bag deposited in a hotel toiletry bag, which they sent to Enzo, who confirmed it as the murder weapon as Antoine's saliva was all over it. Enzo then revealed that he had found traces of a watch cleaning fluid by the bag's opening, where the killer would've needed to hold to suffocate Antoine, which meant the killer wore a watch.

Relationship with suspects

As a mobster, Antoine had made a lot of connections, both romantic and menacing. Decades prior, he had a dalliance with Nadia, who had decided to spy on him in an attempt to get him put back in prison. He also had an affair with Amélie Brassière and promised her that they could be official once he got out of prison, however he kicked her out after they hooked up, without paying her. Antoine also invested in CEO Samy Malouf's app, Luvver, the CEO claiming that he didn't know who he was until the app became a hit. When he found out Antoine's true identity, he then proceeded to put a lawsuit on Antoine after Samy offered to buy out the mobster to cut ties with him, which Antoine refused. Antonie also mocked radio show host Roland Nanty for losing his ex-wife to a politician on live, which led Roland to follow the mobster, only to be stopped by hotel staff. Additionally, his daughter's then-fiancé, Cody James, had tried to invite him to the wedding so he could be there for his daughter. However, Antoine threatened to shoot Cody, as he did not approve of their relationship, which caused him to flee.

Killer and motives

The killer turned out to be Roland.

Roland admitted that when he was fifteen, his mother had an affair with Macaron, which led to his father abandoning them and leaving them destitute. When his mother asked Macaron for help, he required Roland to be a gangster and his mother to be a prostitute, so they refused the help. However, Roland kept working toward his revenge, which culminated in him following Macaron to his hotel room, suffocating him to death while he was drunk, then stripping him down and tying him to the bed to make it look like a sexual act gone wrong. Judge Lebrun sentenced him to 16 years in prison.
